In Finsteres Herz – Die Toten von Marnow 2, detectives Lona Mendt (Petra Schmidt-Schaller) and Frank Elling (Sascha Gersak) investigate a complex murder case that leads them into a web of dark secrets. At the heart of their investigation is 12-year-old Sarah (Greta Kasalo), a Bulgarian orphan girl. But two weeks into the investigation, Lona and Elling are shot and fall into a coma, while Sarah disappears without a trace. What led to this tragic turn of events? And who wanted to silence them?
Once again, successful author Holger Karsten Schmidt, a multiple Grimme Award winner, is responsible for the scripts of this co-production between NDR and ARD Degeto. He had previously won the German TV Crime Prize for Die Toten von Marnow. The direction was once again handled by Andreas Herzog, who won the "Best Crime Series" award at the 2021 German Television Crime Festival for Die Toten von Marnow, as well as the German Audio Description Award in the "Audience Award" category. Martin Tingvall composed and produced the entire music for the series once again.
